CTC to In-Hand Salary Breakdown (5 LPA to 50 LPA)

By Vikram Prasad (CFP)

Getting a job offer for ₹10 Lakhs or ₹15 Lakhs is exciting, but the amount that actually hits your bank account every month is always lower. Let's break down the hidden deductions like EPF, Professional Tax, and Income Tax to show your true in-hand salary.

What is CTC vs In-Hand Salary?

CTC (Cost to Company) is the total amount a company spends on you. It includes your basic salary, allowances, bonuses, and importantly, the employer's contribution to your Provident Fund (EPF).

In-Hand Salary (Take-Home Salary) is the actual cash deposited in your bank account after deducting both employer and employee PF contributions, professional tax, and income tax (TDS).
CTC कंपनी का कुल खर्च है, जबकि इन-हैंड सैलरी वह वास्तविक रकम है जो कटौतियों (PF, Tax) के बाद आपके खाते में आती है।

Salary Bracket Breakdown (FY 2026-27 / New Regime)

Here is the expected monthly in-hand salary for common CTC brackets.(Assumptions: Basic salary is 50% of CTC, both employee & employer PF contributions are 12% of Basic, standard deduction of ₹75,000, and New Tax Regime).

In-Hand Salary Calculation
Annual CTCMonthly CTCMonthly In-HandMajor Deductions
5 LPA₹41,666₹35,666₹6,000 PF | ₹0 Tax
10 LPA₹83,333₹70,150₹12,000 PF | ₹983 Tax | ₹200 PT
15 LPA₹1,25,000₹103,786₹12,000 PF* | ₹9,013 Tax | ₹200 PT
25 LPA₹2,08,333₹165,453₹12,000 PF* | ₹30,680 Tax | ₹200 PT
50 LPA₹4,16,666₹2,99,786₹12,000 PF* | ₹1,04,680 Tax | ₹200 PT

*PF is usually capped at 12% of ₹15,000 (i.e., ₹1,800/month per side) for higher salaries unless the employee opts to contribute more. For conservative calculation in 15L+ brackets, we assume the cap is removed and full 12% of basic is applied up to a maximum of ₹6,000/month per side.

Deep Dive: ₹10 LPA CTC Breakdown

₹10 Lakh CTC = ₹70,150/month in-hand.
